MTG Arena Launch

With the official release of Magic: The Gathering Arena, Wizards of the Coast put together a fresh trailer to reach out to new players and show off the gameplay. We pitched some concepts for the cinematic portions of the spot and were thrilled to have the chance to help bring everything to life. With an extremely aggressive schedule and the two Planeswalker rigs to work with, we jumped head first into creating what we like to think of as the characters’ mind palace — a visual representation of the decision making process that Magic players go through while plotting out their next moves. The resulting cinematic scenes, created using our real time workflow, set up and bookend the actual gameplay footage within the final spot. This montage includes our final shots, as well as a handful of fun process / behind-the-scenes moments.
